A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to enhance its intellectual property practice. The ideal candidate will hold at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics, and have substantial experience in patent application preparation and prosecution. Expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking is essential. This role demands a minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.Duties:Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications, including preparing claims, specifications, and responses to office actions.Conduct detailed technical analyses related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, and computer networking.Manage and oversee patent portfolios, including performing patentability assessments and prior art searches.Collaborate closely with inventors, attorneys, and clients to develop and execute patent strategies.Review and interpret technical and patent documents to support application processes and legal arguments.Provide technical and legal guidance on patent-related issues and intellectual property matters.Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and technical professionals, both orally and in writing.Participate in professional meetings, conferences, and ongoing educational activities as needed.Stay informed about technological advancements and changes in patent law and practice.Requirements:Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution.Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.Proven experience with patent preparation and prosecution.Technical expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Effective organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Education:Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.Certifications:Registration with the USPTO is preferred but not required.Skills:Expertise in patent application preparation and prosecution.Technical knowledge in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.Strong analytical and research capabilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in managing patent portfolios and conducting technical analyses.Effective organizational and time management skills.Job Location:Washington, DCBenefits Offered:Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) plan with firm contributions.Opportunities for professional development and career growth.Collaborative and supportive work environment.
