Key Activities/Responsibilities:Manage the activities of the accounting department to ensure that financial information is prepared accurately and in accordance with accounting rules and Company issued deadlines;Successfully act as a liaison between other operating departments to facilitate information flow and decision-making process, in addition to corporate, outside/internal auditors and customers/suppliers;Work in collaboration with GM, VP of Finance and finance team regarding all decisions and implementations concerning adequate internal controls, processes, and procedures, investments, dispositions, pricing, accounting judgments and commercial decisions;Oversee all accounting subordinates and functions to ensure efficient performance, GAAP compliance, and integrity of the financial records;Share responsibility of forecast accuracy and result achievement with the Business Unit's General Management and Director of Finance;Review and approve purchase and sales contracts to ensure unexpected losses are prevented and profitability expectations are maintained;Ensure all SOX documentation is prepared and complete in accordance with company policy;Ensure the accuracy of cost accounting methods through periodic reviews and audits;Coordinate internal and external audits (as applicable) and resolve any identified issues timely;Manage working capital targets;Ensure bad debt losses are minimized through active management of outstanding accounts;Apply continuous improvement in methodology to coordinate, lead and improve the cost structure of the Business Unit;Develop the annual budget and strategic business plan in partnership with the commercial business leadership group and ensure the achievement of performance targets set forth in the budget and strategic business plan;Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports of performance and detailed analysis of variances and their root causes. Develop action plans to reduce variability;Prepare and comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements for the jurisdictions where the Unit operates;Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as required.Education (technical and/or commercial):
•Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting;
•CPA certification is a plus
Job Experience Required:
Minimum of 5 years with financial Controller type responsibilities requiredMinimum of 5 years supervisory experience requested;Experience with a manufacturing organization a plusSkills Required:
Proficient working knowledge of finance, budgeting, balancing, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements;Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems; experience with Great Plains is a plusAbility to demonstrate bringing financial discipline to non-financial areas of the business;Ability to adhere to and enforce compliance corporate controls and policies at all levels of the organization;Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections to make sound decisions and exercising good judgment;Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, as well as product-line profitability analysis;Strong written, communication and interpersonal skills required including ability to participate in and facilitate large group meetingsAbility to motivate finance teams to produce high quality daily work within tight timeframes while simultaneously managing several projects;Ability to assimilate and prioritize involvement to predict financial performance of the business;Motivate and galvanize finance team to develop and implement strategies, polices, and procedures that maximize profitability, cash flow, return and investment, as well as the effectiveness of the organization;Advanced MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) proficiency required.
