Linux Systems Engineer
to support a Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis, AFB, NV. The individual’s primary responsibility would be providing Linux System support to a team of engineers, Subject Matter Experts, and Pilots.What you will do
Maintain continuous operation of multi-user Linux computer systems to ensure team can effectively support the mission. This will include, but are not limited to:Setting up administrator and service accounts.Installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space.Performing configuration and troubleshooting of systems which may be desktop and/or server based.Optimizes system operation and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning.Aide users in accessing and using systems.Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.Maintaining system documentation.What you must have
5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.Experience with LINUX system administration.Work Environment: Position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required. Must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible schedule training operations.Clearance: DoD Top Secret security clearance.Preferred Requirements
Certifications: Linux+ and Security+Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) preferably as a System Administrator.Preferred experience would be maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.Clearance: DoD Top Secret/SCIPhysical Requirements
