Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer/Senior Vice President (COO/SVP) to oversee day-to-day operations and drive our mission and strategic objectives forward. The position will be responsible for all of our locations, so candidate can reside in the Hampton Roads or Richmond area. Position Summary: The COO/SVP will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for managing daily activities, optimizing operations, and leading the execution of corporate strategies. This role requires a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the solid waste and recycling sectors and a strong track record of operational success, team leadership, and strategic execution. Key Responsibilities: Manage daily operations, ensuring all business functions are efficient, effective, and aligned with company goals. Execute strategies developed by the management team, supporting the CEO in achieving long-term objectives. Develop, design, and improve systems that create and deliver the firm’s products and services. Shape the future growth of the organization by developing strategic plans that align with the company mission. Manage operating budgets, marshal resources, and maximize shareholder value as directed by the CEO and Board of Directors. Develop and implement key performance metrics to assess and improve operations. Lead and cascade the organization’s mission, strategy, and goals to align personnel with company objectives. Oversee the organizational structure, identifying areas for improvement, and managing team development. Qualifications: Experience:
15+ years in senior management, preferably in the solid waste/recycling industry. Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred; JD a plus. Industry Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of the solid waste industry, especially in collection and recycling. Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of modern management theories (e.g., TQM, Kaizen), process improvement techniques (Lean), HR management, and financial analysis. Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, with a passion for helping team members succeed. Analytical Skills:
Detail-oriented with strong financial and operational analysis skills. Strategic Vision:
Able to see the “big picture” and develop strategic plans to achieve company goals. Legal and M&A Knowledge:
Understanding of legal theories in business management, mergers and acquisitions, and financial analysis. Why Join Us?
