Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Student Health Center
The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the position of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the Student Health Center. This is a full-time regular staff position.
The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide a comprehensive moderate complexity program of primary health care services relevant to the needs of eligible University of Tennessee students. These services shall include personal health care, health promotion and education, consultation, and educational experiences for selected students pursuing careers in health professions.
The Position : The Student Health Center seeks a full-time licensed and trained individual to provide outpatient psychiatric care within an ambulatory setting to U.T.K. students. Responsibilities include the provision of outpatient clinical psychiatric care to eligible students 16 years of age or older; must be willing to see patients referred by providers of the Student Health Center and the Student Counseling Center and periodically perform psychiatric consultations in primary service areas of the SHC as needed; the referral to specialists and community providers as clinically appropriate; to assist with crisis intervention as needed and may assume responsibility for hospitalization referral when needed; and to promote preventative mental health care through individual discussions and educational materials.
Administrative duties shall include the maintenance of clinical records in the electronic health record, participation in clinic staff meetings, committees, and University programs, serving as a liaison with the mental health community inside and outside the University of Tennessee setting. The individual must be committed to staying current with the standards clinical psychiatric field of practice.

Education and licensure:
• Master's Degree in nursing with a specialty in psychiatry and mental health
• Must be licensed by the State of Tennessee Division of Health-Related Board
• Must have a Certificate of Fitness to prescribe psychiatric medications as indicated
Experience:
• Must have minimum of 3 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner
• Must have EMR experience
