Student Staff Experience Coordinator

RecSport

RecSports within the Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for the position of Student Staff Experience Coordinator. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure-track, staff position.

The mission of the RecSports department is to provide & engage our students & community with holistic recreational experiences that cultivate wellness and the Volunteer Spirit through programs, facilities, services, & employment.

The Position : Reporting to the Associate Director, the Student Staff Experience Coordinator is responsible for hiring, orientation, development, appreciation, and evaluation of all students employed with the RecSports Department.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:



Student Staff Management:

Oversee hiring, orientation, development, appreciation, and evaluation of all students employed by the RecSports department.



Leadership:

Supervise the RecSports Employee Council (REC) and provide leadership and direction for all council initiatives.



Training and Development:

Develop and implement a robust training and development program for all student staff, focusing on enhancing career readiness competencies.



Event Coordination:

Organize three key department signature events: the annual GA Orientation, All-Staff Training, and Supervisor Workshop.



Appreciation Programs:

Coordinate student staff appreciation programs, including monthly recognition awards and end-of-semester banquet events.



Communication:

Oversee the production and distribution of a monthly newsletter highlighting student staff achievements and updates.



Recruitment:

Lead the development and execution of strategic recruitment initiatives to attract a diverse and qualified student staff each semester. Oversee the recruitment and selection process, including interviews and assessments.



Orientation:

Design and implement a comprehensive orientation program to effectively onboard new hires into the department.



Training Compliance:

Ensure ongoing compliance with university-mandated training, managing the renewal process for all student staff.



Compensation Management:

Administer the classification and compensation framework for student employees, ensuring roles and pay are aligned with departmental standards and student growth.

What We Require:

• Bachelor's degree required. Applicants must have degree completed before starting work.

What We Prefer:

• One (1) year of professional experience working with students in a campus recreation program or similar organization of comparable size

• Master's degree

• Experience with When-to-Work and InnoSoft Fusion

Salary Range:

This position is a Market Range 08. The anticipated salary for this position starts at $44,000. Final salary is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a full university benefits package.
