The University of Knoxville, Student Health Center is seeking a full-time Staff Physician to perform medical services as a member of a physician-directed health care team specializing in primary care. The incumbent will work interdependently, independently and dependently as a member of a health care team. Duties will be carried out in accordance with established standards and ethics of the medical profession, personal clinical qualifications and the administrative policies and operational procedures of the Student Health Center.

The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide a comprehensive, moderate-complexity program of primary health care services relevant to the needs of eligible University of Tennessee students. These services include medical health care, health promotion, education, consultation, and educational experiences for selected students pursuing careers in health professions.

The position provides outpatient medical care in an ambulatory setting to eligible students of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus.

Responsibilities:

1. Provides functional supervision to assigned nursing staff.

2. Provide outpatient ambulatory care for students.

3. Promote preventive health care.

4. Perform physical examinations when required by the academic or sports programs.

5. Participate in administrative conferences and staff meetings.

6. Attend continuing medical education seminars.

7. Periodically act as a resource person or lecturer for students, faculty, campus and community organizations.

Qualifications:

What we require:

• Doctoral degree - Graduation from an accredited medical school.

Board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Pediatrics, or the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

if within two years of residency graduation, must be actively pursuing board certification within their specialty and will obtain and maintain board certification within one year from date of hire with UTK.

• Licensed to practice in the State of Tennessee

• 3 letters of recommendation affirming professional competency and character.

• Genuine interest in college health medicine and the ability to relate to and maintain optimum rapport with the students.

• Experience with successfully utilizing computer systems. Must be willing to learn EMR college health focused software.

What we prefer:

• Previous primary care or college health experience preferred.

• Preference given to those with skills in accurate coding and EMR experience.
