Job Summary/Basic Function

The Sustainable Transportation Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, and implementing projects and programs that increase the use of alternative forms of transportation by WSU students, faculty, and staff. This position will lead efforts to help WSU reach its goal to reduce faculty, staff, and student commuting-related greenhouse gas emissions by 50% (from the 2007 baseline) by 2030. Specifically, this position is responsible for the following:

a. Assisting with the implementation of the sustainable transportation goals and objectives in WSU's Sustainability Plan.

b. Assisting with the implementation of TDM strategies in WSU's updated Transportation Management Plan.

c. Serving on WSU's Transportation Master Plan Implementation Committee and assisting with the creation of meeting agendas, taking minutes, and implementing committee strategies.

d. Serving as the Sustainable Transportation Vice President within the Environmental Ambassadors Club. Managing sustainable transportation events (e.g. Clear the Air Challenge, bike fix-it workshops, active transportation safety workshops, carpool connection events, etc.). Assisting the EA President with the planning, marketing, and implementation of all Sustainable Clubs events.

e. Developing and administering an education and incentive-based program to encourage the use of alternative forms of transportation by WSU students, faculty, and staff.

f. Working with WSU transportation staff, UTA, and others to develop a vanpooling and/or carpooling program for WSU.

g. Helping to manage projects to install more active transportation infrastructure.

h. Assist with carbon offset marketing and purchasing.

i. Assist with transportation-related data collection, analysis, and reporting.

j. Assisting with the implementation of the Green Department and Green Badge Programs on sustainable transportation-related elements.

Required Qualifications

Must be a current WSU student who has completed 24 credit hours on campus. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required to apply. Student applicants may be majoring in a variety of fields such as environmental science/studies, communications, education, marketing, geography, geosciences, botany, energy engineering, political science, etc.Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to: technical writing, computer skills, public speaking, and oral presentation.Excellent interpersonal skills.Self-motivated and organizedMust be a creative and collaborative problem solverPreferred Qualifications
