Terminal Manager
to join their team.
This is a hybrid/full-time/permanent position.Salary based on experience: $110k-$120k
Position Summary:This role as a
Terminal Manager
involves overseeing terminal operations, managing day-to-day activities, and ensuring excellent customer service. The Terminal Manager is responsible for supervising approximately 90 CDL drivers and 150 escort/pilot vehicle operators for oversized home shipments across the Knoxville metro area. Key duties include full P&L responsibility ($40M), team leadership, training, hiring, payroll, maintenance, incident investigations, risk management, and maintaining FMCSA compliance. The position offers flexibility for some remote work.
Essential Job Functions:Oversight of transportation equipment and personnelEvaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to Federal Motor Carrier SafetyAdministration (FMCSA) RegulationsFamiliarity with shipment options, legal issues, government regulations, and safety procedures is required, as is knowledge of geography, mathematics, and computer applicationsConducts investigations to determine the root cause for any incidents within the region. Analyze, follow-up, close action items, and retrain regionally for all vehicle accidents involving company personnel and/or equipmentDevelop and implement policies and proceduresManage personnel activities and schedules and oversee shipment coordination and routingRecommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measuresReport operational statistics to Senior Management and Customers as requestedOversee budgets, safety procedures, and operational documentationResearch and correct customer problems and complaintsPartner with the Regional Safety Managers and Corporate in reviewing/analyzing safety & operationalfunctionality and developing future strategiesMaintain a working knowledge of all FMCSA regulations and state-specific regulations by reviewing pending and upcoming changes by the DOTEnsure the Region is prepared for all future compliance requirementsQualifications:A College Degree in Business or Logistics preferred5+ years of proven experience in Logistics/Transportation managementUnderstanding of FMCSA ComplianceGood knowledge of data analysis and risk assessmentExcellent organizational and motivational skillsOutstanding attention to detail and observation abilityAbility to produce reports and develop relevant policiesExceptional communication and interpersonal abilitiesExceptional problem-solving abilitiesAbility to hold others accountable to standards on safety, compliance, and policyMust have a positive attitudeMust have the ability to work in a team environmentMust be able to travel to home building facilities within the region (day trip) 20%-30% of the timeProficient in Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPointPreferred Skills:
Previous experience in OS/OW shipments or Mobile Home haulingPrevious permitting experience
