Position Summary
The Financial Controller works closely with the CFO and undertakes all aspects of financial management. This includes corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The controller's responsibilities will also include financial risk management.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesManages the Accounting team to ensure all financial processes and procedures are adhered to and executed in accordance with company policyResponsible for month-end close process completed in accordance with U.S. GAAPResponsible for the accuracy of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statementResponsible for reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts that include appropriate supporting documentation.Manages payroll activities and ensures proper controls existManages statutory regulatory requirements and ensures timely submission in accordance with statutory requirements.Manages the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved and all compliance issues achieved. Coordinates with auditors in preparation of the annual financial statements including any statutory reporting requirementsOversees training needs of the accounting department and raises awareness and knowledge of financial mattersAssists CFO with the maintenance of systems and internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the organizationAssists CFO with developing an annual planAssists department with continuous improvement process to enhance processes and proceduresProvides support for ad-hoc financial projects and analysis along with financial presentations as required to support initiativesManage Accounts Receivable, Payable, Payroll, and Staff AccountantsAssist in the development of initiatives to achieve strategic objectivesRequired Skills/Abilities
Expert Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, Macros, etc.) and other MS Office Suite applicationsExperience with report writingStrong verbal and written communication skillsDiligence with an especially analytical and audit-oriented mindsetCreative problem solvingIndependent initiative-taker with a strong commitment to successful completionExperience coaching and developing direct reports and teamsMust be able to take direction and take charge of completing projects and routine tasksEducation and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of recent progressively responsible experience; strong GAAP knowledgeCPA (required)Solid management skills leading teams, with a track record of mentoring/growing team members with the ability to lead and motivate othersExperience in Financial planning & analysisExperience in Multi-entity Corporate AccountingSupervisory Responsibilities
