ABOUT THE ROLE

As the

Director of Social Media

at 321, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall strategy, execution, and performance of social media initiatives for both the agency and its clients. You’ll lead a team of social media managers and collaborate cross-functionally with creative, content, and digital teams to craft innovative, engaging, and data-driven social media strategies. The role demands a forward-thinking leader who can blend creativity with analytical insights, ensuring that clients' social media presence drives brand visibility, community engagement, and business growth.

You will have a significant impact on brand direction and visibility, reporting directly to senior leadership and playing a key role in strategic decision-making. Your experience in content creation, social media analytics, and industry trends will help guide not only our clients' success but also the continued growth of the agency’s social media offerings. WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Strategic Social Media Leadership

Develop and Lead Social Media Strategies:

for clients across all major platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering measurable outcomes.

Team Leadership:

Manage and mentor a team of social media managers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure high performance and development.

Client Relationship Management:

Serve as a key client-facing leader, presenting social media strategies, performance reports, and campaign insights to senior client stakeholders.

Collaborate Cross-Functionally:

Partner with creative, content, analytics, and digital teams to develop cohesive, multi-channel marketing strategies.

Innovation & Growth:

Identify emerging platforms and opportunities, positioning the agency and its clients to stay ahead of social media trends.

Social Platform Management

Oversee Platform-Specific Content Strategies:

Ensure the successful management of social media accounts, content creation, and community engagement for all clients.

Build and optimize new and existing social media accounts, determining the right platform mix and approach for achieving each client’s unique goals.

Develop best practices and standard operating procedures for social account management, ensuring that both 321 and its clients maintain a strong and consistent social presence.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Advanced Social Media Analytics:

Lead the monitoring and reporting of social media performance, using data-driven insights to continuously optimize strategies and improve KPIs.

Client-Specific Reporting:

Produce monthly, weekly, and campaign-specific reports for clients, outlining social media performance, sentiment analysis, and strategic recommendations for improvement.

Track, analyze, and benchmark social output, adapting strategies based on performance metrics.

Content & Campaign Strategy

Oversee the

creation and execution

of social media content calendars, ensuring alignment with brand voice, audience interests, and marketing goals.

Collaborate with creative and content teams to produce

high-quality visuals, videos, and copy

that resonate with target audiences.

Guide the implementation of both

organic and paid

social campaigns, ensuring that they meet objectives for engagement, lead generation, and conversion.

Trend Identification & Industry Leadership

Stay on top of the latest social media trends, algorithm updates, and platform developments to ensure clients are positioned for success.

Provide thought leadership and insights to clients and internal teams on how social media trends impact brand performance and strategy.

Internal & External Collaboration

Work closely with other department heads and agency leadership to ensure seamless collaboration and execution of social media initiatives.

Act as a key representative of 321, maintaining a high level of professionalism when engaging with clients and external partners.

Professional Development & Innovation

Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the social media team, encouraging learning, experimentation, and innovation in social strategies.

Lead workshops and training sessions to upskill internal teams and educate clients on social media best practices.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, English Literature, Creative Writing, or a relevant field of study.

7+ years of agency or client-based social media management experience.

Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Ability to lead and experience managing a team, with a strong interest in cross-departmental collaboration.

Must be professional, personable, self-motivated, and flexible.

High energy and creative with a sense of humor.

Should possess a combination of analytical and creative skills.

Must be able to work independently and under pressure on multiple projects and client needs.

Must be organized, detail-oriented and comfortable with change.

Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Expertise in all major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and YouTube) and social media technology (Sprout, Hootsuite, etc.).

Preferred skills:

Experience with video production and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.).

Knowledge of SEO and its impact on social media strategies.

Working or direct experience with paid social media campaigns.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This position reports to 321 Executive Leadership.
