This position offers an exciting opportunity for an attorney with a passion for criminal law and post-conviction relief, as well as exposure to immigration-related issues. The ideal candidate will have prior litigation or appellate experience and will be responsible for managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a supportive team of attorneys and legal professionals. This is a great chance to grow within a well-established firm in Southern California.Duties:Provide legal counsel to clients regarding their rights and advise on appropriate legal strategies.Handle post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate convictions, expungements, motions to reduce sentences, and requests for early termination of probation.Represent clients in court, attending motion hearings and advising clients on legal strategies post-hearing.Collaborate with other criminal attorneys in the firm to manage open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trial motions, pleas, and sentencing.Draft and file legal motions, conduct client interviews and perform legal research to build cases.Analyze legal precedents and provide clients with an informed outlook on the probable outcomes of their cases.Manage a diverse caseload effectively while maintaining communication with clients and other legal professionals.Collaborate with both criminal defense and immigration teams when necessary, leveraging knowledge of immigration law in post-conviction matters.Requirements:Experience in criminal defense, post-conviction relief, or immigration law.Previous experience handling criminal cases at the state and local levels.Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage and work collaboratively with clients, attorneys, and legal staff.Ability to manage a caseload, meet deadlines and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.Strong legal research and writing skills.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Active bar admission in the state of California (or awaiting admission, if recently graduated).Skills:Expertise in criminal defense, particularly post-conviction matters.Knowledge of immigration law is highly desirable, though not required.Ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents, including motions, briefs, and client correspondence.Strong client relationship-building skills.Experience using case management software and other legal technology tools is a plus.Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.Paid parking and paid time off (PTO).Opportunities for career advancement and professional development within the firm.Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.Company info
