Summary of Job Description

The primary purpose of the Senior Catering Sales Manager is to optimize catering revenue through maximizing catering opportunities consistent with the property's business plan, accurately forecasting revenue and expenses, and efficiently managing catering activities through coordination with clients and operational departments.

Salary Range: 80K-90K annually and is bonus eligible.

Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs

Scheduling may include holidays, nights, overnights, and weekends depending on travel and trade show schedule and hotel events

Job Requirements

Must have excellent hospitality sales skills from rapport building to closing business to following up to close their next group meeting

Must be able to identify client’s primary buying criteria and personal goals quickly and accurately; then be able to sell to those needs

Must be creative in client approach, creating proposals, planning and conducting site inspections and closing business

Must possess excellent communication, follow up, and organizational skills

Sets high personal performance standards and enjoys keeping track of individual and team progress toward goals

Must be proactive and have a creative, positive, and focused mindset

Understand the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel

Maintaining confidentiality and sensitive information is a must

Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office

Strong leadership skills and the ability to apply them in a dynamic environment

Establish various goals and objectives for their market

Well organized, focused and complete all work assigned

Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team

Build morale and promote positive employee engagement

Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve standards of operations

Ability to read, comprehend, and write instructions, correspondence, reports, and memos

Ability to communicate verbally and electronically with clients, guests, corporate office and co-workers

Ability to effectively present information to clients, guests, corporate office and co-workers

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to understand guest service needs.

Essential job duties, responsibilities, and assignments

Generate catering revenue consistent with the property's business plan

Achieve personal and hotel revenue goals

Prospect for new business using a variety of methods, including phone calls, outside sales calls, community functions, internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, trade journals, etc.

Develop, implement, and consistently update catering sales action plans

Interact effectively with vendors, competitors, local community, catering associations and other hotel departments (including Sales, Kitchen and Operations) to ensure guest satisfaction

Align catering service and client specifications to achieve high guest satisfaction and return on investment

Manage contract minimums and coordinate the collection of attrition and cancellation fees

Provide accurate revenue and expense forecasts according to established guidelines

Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked. Transfer accurate, complete, and timely information to the Events department in accordance with hotel and brand standards.

Promote accountability to drive superior business results. Includes successful execution of sales strategies and business processes.

Effectively resolve guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process. Bring issues to the attention of the property and sales leadership team as appropriate.

Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors

Informs and/or updates the executives, peers and the subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner

Fosters open channels of communication between all employees

Participates in the performance appraisal system process, giving feedback when needed

Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among associates
