This role goes beyond checking boxes; it's about minimizing risks and supporting the success of our entire organization. Reporting to the National Director of Quality and Compliance Programs, you’ll collaborate with team members across departments to develop and refine policies that drive our mission forward.Success in this role means being detail-oriented, staying ahead of regulatory changes, and continuously improving our compliance strategies. Your strong analytical skills and proactive approach will help keep us on the cutting edge of regulatory requirements, ensuring we create a safe and compliant environment for everyone we serve.What does success look like as a Compliance Specialist?
Regulatory Monitoring & Analysis:
Meticulously monitor activities impacted by regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and PACE-specific regulations. Review internal policies, procedures, and documentation to identify potential deviations from regulatory standards and recommend appropriate updates to align with compliance requirements.Compliance Program Development:
Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance programs, policies, and procedures. Analyze regulatory risks, report findings to leadership, and identify best regulatory practices to ensure the organization remains compliant with evolving healthcare regulations.Policy Review Committee Leadership:
Lead the monthly policy review committee, including curating the agenda, preparing pre-reading materials, assigning tasks, and ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner. Facilitate discussions that align internal policies with current regulations.Subject Matter Expertise:
Provide expert guidance on healthcare compliance topics, with a focus on PACE program compliance, HIPAA, and regulatory policies from the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). Stay updated on new developments and changes in relevant healthcare regulations.Internal Controls & Auditing:
Establish and maintain robust internal controls and auditing systems. Regularly conduct audits to detect, identify, and correct areas of non-compliance. Provide recommendations for process improvements based on audit findings.Regulatory Reporting:
Prepare and present comprehensive compliance reports to management, outlining any regulatory risks, non-compliance areas, and corrective actions taken.Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments, ensuring that compliance practices are integrated into all operational processes. Provide clear communication and training to staff on regulatory updates and internal policies.Decision-Making & Adaptability:
Demonstrate a high level of motivation, self-direction, and adaptability in a rapidly changing regulatory environment. Make informed decisions in time-sensitive situations, often with minimal supervision.Contribute to Organizational Growth:
Embrace additional opportunities and responsibilities as needed, actively participating in the continued growth and success of the organization.What does an ideal candidate look like?
5+ Years of Healthcare Writing Experience:
Experience in healthcare writing, especially in clinical or managed care settings.Policy Development Expertise:
At least five years in developing or implementing compliance policies, preferably in regulatory or legal topics.Compliance Program Success:
Proven experience in creating and implementing compliance programs in healthcare settings.Leadership & Collaboration:
Experience leading committees or cross-functional teams is highly desirable.Certifications Preferred:
Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar certifications are a plus.Regulatory Knowledge:
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including PACE and HIPAA.Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in healthcare administration, law, or compliance. A Master’s degree or JD is preferred, but 7 years of relevant experience may be substituted.Auditing & Reporting Skills:
Proficient in auditing systems, reporting, and data analysis.Diverse Healthcare Experience:
Experience in hospitals, skilled nursing, home health, hospice care, and PACE is preferred.Compensation:
$96,000 - $115,000 a yearWhat's in it for you?

Base pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, relevant work and industry experience, certifications, and location of the role. Onsite roles include appropriate geographic adjustments, while remote roles are typically priced off national pay data.Competitive Incentive Plan:
