Under general supervision, the role involves reviewing, verifying, and analyzing records of occupational injuries and illnesses and workers compensation claims data, investigating and/or reviewing investigations of occupational injuries and near-misses, recommending changes to prevent future incidents, determining recordability and/or reportability of occupational incidents, maintaining and/or reviewing logs and other documents for completeness and accuracy, preparing correspondence as necessary, entering and updating incident records into a computerized database, preparing statistical summary reports, performing trend analysis, analyzing monthly loss control reports, and coordinating meetings. You are excited about this position because you will: Obtain and analyze incident investigation reports, reports of occupational injuries and illnesses, near misses, motor vehicle accidents, and ensure that they are complete and accurate. Determine recordability and reportability of incidents. Ensure that OSHA logs and all other required records and documents are completed and maintained. Conduct and/or assist supervisors in performing incident investigations and in preparing incident investigation reports. Develop and maintain statistical databases, analyze and evaluate data, identify injury and illness trends, and produce reports on occupational incidents, motor vehicle accidents, and workers compensation claims and costs. Calculate incidence rates and other statistical measures as required. Prepare the quarterly report of occupational injuries and illnesses required by the Mayor. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. How to qualify
Experience:
One year of experience maintaining or reviewing occupational safety and health records as required by Cal-OSHA and/or investigating occupational injuries/illnesses. License and Certification:
Driver's License Desirable Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Access database system. In-field experience investigating occupational injuries/illnesses in the transportation industry or municipality. Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. Verification: Applicants may be required to submit verification of qualifying education and experience at any point during the recruitment and selection process. Selection Procedures:
