Wellness programs, commuter benefits, and a vibrant company cultureBASIC FUNCTIONS:The Sr. Network Operations Manager position will lead a department of high-performing network operations engineers who manage the Howard University network infrastructure and ensure high network availability (24x7x365). The position will work closely with the Director of Infrastructure to implement department strategic direction and serve as the department leader when the Director is unavailable. The ideal candidate has extensive experience within campus networking / higher education industry, specifically in network related operations, preferably having prior experience as a network operations manager.SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:The Senior Network Operations Manager will directly supervise all employees on the Net-Ops team. Designated team leads and supervisors will provide day-to-day tasks and instruction to staff and will report up to the Senior Network Operations Manager.NATURE AND SCOPE:Internal contacts include executives, administrators, faculty, students and staff of the department and the university at large. External contacts include consultants, representatives from other colleges and universities.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Overseeing network, security, and low voltage cabling operations ensuring all business objectives are met or exceeded.Executing tactical objectives associated with the deployment of new products and services across operations.Serving as a key department representative when interfacing with University faculty and staff for escalations associated with security and network related outages and issues.Ensuring effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention.Collaborating with Director in driving organizational vision and operations strategy.Translating department strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization wide goal setting, and annual operations planning.CORE COMPETENCIES:Analyzing internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement.Monitoring operations performance with tracking software, ensure service level agreements are contract compliant, take corrective measures when necessary, and prepare detailed updates and forecasts.Ensuring that all approved University security policies are applied to applications, services, and networks designs.Monitoring security operations performance and policy compliance, ensure network audit compliance, take corrective measures when necessary, and prepare detailed reporting.Implementing strategies and plans that align with the short- and long-term objectives as directed by the department Director and CIO.Building and maintaining trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Three or more years of experience in IT manager leadership roles. Minimum of 8 years of experience in network and/or IT operations. Minimum of 2 years of network security experience. Understanding of advanced business strategic planning. Strong data analysis and performance metrics skills.Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Experience developing complex business solutions from customer requirements.Compliance Salary Range DisclosureExpected Salary Range: $131,818 - $145,000About Us
