Wellness programs, commuter benefits, and a vibrant company cultureJoin Howard University and thrive with us!JOB PURPOSE:Under the direction of the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Student Conduct Coordinator will administer and coordinate student conduct procedures, to include but not limited to initial conducting hearings, responding to housing crises, providing guidance educational trainings, hosting mediations and interventions, making appropriate referrals to university wide resources, and other related activities. Partners with various departments and student groups across the university community to ensure student safety and promote awareness. Advises faculty, students, staff, deans and other constituents regarding student conduct policies and procedures.SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:Student WorkersNATURE AND SCOPE:Responsible for supporting University wide student conduct system and processes to ensure investigation and resolution are consistent with University Policy and the Student Handbook.Ensures intent of the law and due process are being followed.Coordinate the University’s response to Students of Concern, students accused of conduct violations, provide clearances for government agencies, graduate schools and professional schools, referring Title IX concerns, assisting with disciplinary sanctions.Coordinates and assists with day-to-day conduct hearings and training activities.Provides input into policy and procedure development and compliance.Assists in maintaining all student records and conduct communication documentation related to Student Conduct.Conduct trainings and ensures students know the conduct process.Coordinates and receives formal communications to and from students and other stakeholders, outlines expectations, refers students to partnering offices, and assists students with the completion of any intervention plan.Participate in various meetings.Monitors various special projects.Compiles, maintains, and manages student files related to student conduct, referrals from the Department of Corrections, and students on medical leave.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Assist with the management and scheduling conduct hearings. Investigate student conduct and/or behavior complaints in collaboration with appropriate university departments.Coordinate and/or manage programs to investigate student problems. Programs may also provide communication to students, families, faculty, and staff.Answer, screen, research, inform, advise, record, process and follow up all customer requests efficiently and expeditiously as received by telephone, mail or personally from agencies, and/or University faculty and staff.Review and/or revise reports and documents for accuracy and completeness. This does not include the review of reports and documents covered under subsequent activities. Manage the appeal process.Compile and maintain data on student cases; generate and disseminate reports on all case activity. Review and analyze data to make informed decisions and recommendations.Weekly, monthly, and annual report writing to be delivered to the university administration.Annual KPIs and general department performance data collection and analysis.CORE COMPETENCIES:Working knowledge of Title IX, Clery Act, and other federal and state impacts on the work of student conduct administration and higher education.Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage competing tasks and prioritize work in a dynamic environment.Ability to facilitate trainings, do student programming and outreach.Understanding of student development theory and ability to translate into practice of student conduct administration.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in related field such as criminal justice, social work, law.Minimum of four years related experience related to Student Conduct.Experience in Higher education preferred.Desired in addition to minimum requirements:Master’s Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs/Student Development or other equivalent degree and one year of experience.Experience working with faculty, staff and students and an ability to navigate complex systems.Experience adjudicating student conduct violations in either a university level setting or a Residence Life and Housing setting.Experience with conduct software like Maxient.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Effective case management techniques.Microsoft Word or similar application.Microsoft Excel or similar application.Banner, Maxient, StarRez or similar conduct software.Experience working with at-risk populations preferred.Incident investigation skills.Mediation skills.Strong analytical skills.Conflict resolution skills.Strong time management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Multitasking capabilities.Detail oriented.Compliance Salary Range Disclosure:Expected Pay Range:
