Job Description:
Student employees within the Event Productions Department must:
Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0+ GPARespond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staffProvide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalismDemonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environmentEstablish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependableParticipate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluationsPossess the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays and academic breaks, as well as commit to working 10 or more hours per weekComplete all training requirements within the first five (5) weeks of employmentBe able to physically lift up to 45 poundsAct as an ambassador for all areas within the Reitz Union as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resourcesPosition Specific Responsibilities:
Works independently or as a team to physically set up tables, chairs, stages, audio-visual equipment, and other furniture consistent with room diagrams and provide technical support for events occurring at the Reitz UnionResponsible for interpreting all Event Management System (EMS) documents to determine event requirements and setupsProvides customer service support by responding via a two-way radio to calls for assistanceAssists with transportation, distribution, and redistribution of office furniture, event equipment, and general equipment returning all items to the proper storage area when not in useConducts equipment inventories, separates all damaged equipment, and completes minor repairsMaintains furniture and/or audio-visual equipment in meeting rooms, common areas, and storage roomsOperates sound reinforcement and lighting systems to support a variety of live eventsOther duties as assignedAdvertised Salary:
$13.00/HR
Minimum Requirements:
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
Although no experience is necessary to apply and all training will be provided, we would prefer for all student employees to:
Demonstrate previous experience with customer service.Candidates will be able and available to work the entire academic year.Possess the ability to work shifts during the early mornings, evenings and weekends.Proficient with verbal and written communication.CPR and First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain.
