LABORER- CHILD NUTRITION DEPARTMENT
QUALIFICATIONS
:High school diploma or equivalent required.Associate's degree or certification in refrigeration preferred but not requiredPossess and maintain valid Alabama driver's licenseExperience working with cafeteria/restaurant equipmentMPS insurable driving record required.Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.Subject to drug screening within Board policy.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY
Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of food service (kitchen) and refrigeration systems.Install new food service (kitchen) and refrigeration equipment and systems when required.Relocate and expand existing food service (kitchen) and refrigeration systems as required.Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.Provide outstanding customer service and use positive interpersonal communicational skills.Make decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Montgomery Public Schools' Organizational Values.Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.Perform other incidental tasks or services consistent with the job goal of this position.Perform all scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning on all food service (kitchen) and refrigeration equipment as needed.Detect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection procedures.Respond to emergency calls as needed.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent working knowledge of all aspects of plumbing methods, practices, tools and materials.Excellent understanding of and ability to make repairs to all equipment in child nutrition department. LAbility to follow complex directions, both written and verbal.Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, drawings, and specifications pertaining to cafeteria and equipment systems.Ability to do lay-outs, plan, and coordinate jobs through to completion.Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining the methods and proceduresRequired to perform the work.
Ability to order parts and materials and procure needed equipment.Ability to relate to superiors and subordinates.Ability to be on call for equipment emergenciesFulfill additional duties as need by the Child Nutrition Department DirectorPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Lift up to 100 pounds of materials and equipment on a frequent basis.Walk and stand 95 % of work shift.Climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds on a regular basis.Stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and twist on a frequent basis.Subject to extreme environmental exposures, including heat, cold and chemicals on a regular basis.Adequate strength, dexterity, and agility to perform assigned work tasks.
