This role will be responsible for both hands-on payroll administration and managing payroll professionals. This candidate will play a crucial role in advancing the payroll function, refining the process and enhancing the capability across the team. Collaborating closely with the Finance, Human Resources and Legal teams, this candidate will ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state and international laws for both union and non-union employee populations.Location:
This is a hybrid position that will require working from the Forbes Jersey City Office as business needs require.Responsibilities:Oversee the daily workflow of the payroll department including processing, compliance, and management.Assess current operations and identify areas of opportunity to incorporate automation or additional efficiencies within processes.Maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll related transactions.Perform audits of source data within ADP payroll system for quality assurance.Stay abreast of all federal, state, and local payroll and tax laws and ensure compliance for payroll & tax in all locations in which we work including state tax reporting, state specific deductions (and when those deductions should be taken), etc.Establish processes for the Payroll department that will comply with union collective bargaining agreements.Revamp internal control environment and process documentation leveraging use of FloQast software.Oversee payroll audits and support financial statements and employee benefit plan audit requests with third parties.Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and tax reporting.Be the senior point of contact for all payroll related inquiries from the workforce and third parties.Develop and coach the payroll team while creating a positive and collaborative work environment.Create collaborative relationships with various stakeholders in Human Resources, Finance, Legal and Management.Ensure payroll forecast file is updated timely within Workday Adaptive Planning to enable accurate Company-wide forecasting.The ideal candidate:Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.Minimum 15 years relevant work experience with at least 5 years managing payroll staff supporting a workforce population of 500+ employees.Must have advanced Excel skills, including working knowledge of V-lookups and Pivot tables.Experience leading payroll operations for a remote US Workforce.Experience managing payroll partner company for the UK and Asia payrolls.Expertise in payroll process and procedures for a union population; and ensuring company obligations are met for a collective bargaining agreement.Proficiency in ADP is a must, as well as managing payroll professionals who are responsible for data entry into our HRIS system.Previous experience and/or negotiation in the RFP/selection process for payroll systems a plus.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written communications.A critical thinker that raises vital questions, anticipates problems, and gathers relevant information for resolution.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills (e.g., flexible in collaborations, consensus negotiations and relationship management) with internal stakeholders and employees alike.Excellent time management (e.g., meeting deadlines and resource management) and analytical skills (e.g., analyze and assimilate data).Strong attention to detail is a must with the ability to see the big picture and how the details affect the Company.Continuous learner who stays informed on payroll related laws, regulations, and best practices.The annual base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000.Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith. The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate.
