**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
**Job Specialty:** Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks
**Shift:** 12-Hour Days, Every Other Weekend, First to Float
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours Per Week
**Experience:** Minimum of 2 Years of ICU Experience
**License:** Yes
**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, COVID Vaccine Required, NIHSS, PALS Preferred
**Must-Have:** Experience with ICP Monitoring and Ventriculostomies (Ventrics)
**Job Description:**
- Telemetry, Labor/Delivery, Emergency, and Critical Care RNs are required to take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on-site on the first day. This is a PASS/FAIL test.- The unit comprises 30 beds with a patient ratio of 1:1-2. Most of the time, the ratio is 1:2.- Charge Nurses are available but do not take patient assignments.- No Nurse Aides support the unit.- Shift schedules are prepared approximately six weeks in advance.- Floating to telemetry or medical-surgical units may be required.- There are no holiday requirements at this time; however, holidays may have to be worked.- Scrubs color is navy blue.- GE telemetry and Hamilton ventilators are used in the unit.- A hospitalist is available 24/7.- Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are available round the clock.- The common diagnoses include trauma, neuro-strokes, head injuries, and ventriculostomies. Experience in handling these cases is a must.- Previous travel experience is preferred.- Candidates must be proactive in asking questions and seeking help when necessary.- This is a fast-paced unit requiring strong teamwork skills.- The hospital boasts a robust interventional radiology program and is traveler-friendly.- Candidates should be prepared to work hard in this dynamic environment.- Floor-specific orientation occurs on the unit for one day.
**Additional Notes:**
- Candidates with less than two years of experience with minimal travel experience will not be considered unless they have significant experience in larger, fast-paced facilities.- The hospital allows up to three shift cancellations per contract. Each cancellation can involve a full or partial shift.- The charting system used is Cerner.
