Reviews and processes building applications including site and field inspections, plan review and verification of compliance with applicable codes. City of Aspen inspectors ensure the safety, efficiency, and integrity of Aspen’s built environment by maintaining the highest level of training and professionalism in the industry.Essential Job Functions:Building Inspections:
Inspects and evaluates residential and commercial systems to ensure compliance with codes. Conducts daily building inspections and provides reports to builders or contractors. Issues stop work orders when necessary.Plans Examination:
Reviews construction plans for compliance with building codes and issues permits. Prepares communication regarding code requirements and deficiencies.Customer Service:
Provides expert customer service to internal and external customers. Maintains knowledge of codes and ordinances and assists with general office duties.Technology and Records Management:
Implements improvements to plan review and inspection processes. Maintains data related to plan review and inspection activities.Minimum Requirements:Education:
Bachelor’s degree.Experience:
Level I: No prior inspection experience; Level II: One year of inspection experience; Level III: Three years of inspection experience.Technical Knowledge:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and online technology applications.Licenses & Certifications:
Must possess ICC Plans Examiner and Building Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within one year. Valid Colorado driver’s license required.Position Type and Work Hours:
Regular full-time, hours may vary. Evening/Weekend work may be required.Work Environment:
Office and outdoor environments, including site visits to construction sites.Physical Demands:
