Our client, a growing Houston area law firm, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Litigation Associate to join their team. This role provides an exciting opportunity for an attorney with a passion for litigation and experience in handling complex insurance defense cases. As a part of the litigation team, you will be responsible for managing cases from inception through trial, with a focus on defending insurance claims and providing strategic legal counsel to the firm's clients. Key Responsibilities • Represent clients in a wide range of insurance defense matters, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, professional liability, and commercial litigation. • Manage a caseload involving complex legal issues, from pre-suit investigation to trial preparation and settlement negotiations. • Draft and file legal pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses. • Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts. • Represent clients in hearings, mediation, and court appearances. • Provide timely and effective legal advice to clients, keeping them informed of case progress, potential risks, and strategy. • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals. • Collaborate with senior attorneys and assist with case strategy and legal research. • Stay current on developments in insurance law, tort law, and trial procedures. Qualifications • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. • Admission to the Texas State Bar. • 3-8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation or related practice area, including premises liability, personal injury, construction defect and/or general liability. • Strong knowledge of Texas civil procedure, insurance law, and defense strategies. • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. • Proven ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines. • Experience in depositions, hearings, and motion practice. • A client-focused approach with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. • A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
