Position Overview: As the Heavy Civil Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of FDOT-related construction projects, ensuring they meet the required standards, timelines, and budgets. You will work closely with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to successfully deliver complex projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership: Lead and manage multiple FDOT heavy civil infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, drainage systems, and utilities, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards. Contract Management: Oversee project contracts, including negotiating and managing terms with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. Budget and Schedule Control: Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Identify and address any issues related to cost overruns, schedule delays, or scope changes. Compliance & Safety: Ensure all projects are in full compliance with FDOT specifications, local codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. Foster a culture of safety on the job site. Team Management: Supervise and mentor a project team consisting of field personnel, engineers, subcontractors, and administrative staff. Promote teamwork and effective communication. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, FDOT representatives, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure all parties are informed about project progress and any potential issues. Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve any challenges or obstacles that may arise during the course of the project, including resolving conflicts or addressing technical issues. Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control programs to ensure that all construction work meets the required FDOT standards and specifications. Reporting: Prepare and present regular project updates, including progress reports, budget status, and schedule forecasts, to senior management and clients. Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and costs. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) are a plus. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience managing heavy civil construction projects, with at least 3 years specifically working on FDOT projects or other governmental infrastructure projects. Knowledge of FDOT Standards: Strong understanding of FDOT specifications, processes, and compliance requirements for construction projects. Project Management Skills: Proven ability to lead, manage, and deliver large-scale construction projects on time and within budget. Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (Procore, MS Project, Primavera, etc.) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members. Leadership: Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and resources effectively.
