About Us: At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Associate Executive Director (AED) for Clinical Research and Professor will oversee all clinical research activities at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. The position will develop and lead national and internationally recognized clinical research programs related to the mission of the Center. The position is a direct report to the Executive Director. Major Responsibilities Administrative Leadership Responsibilities Oversee the clinical research enterprise at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Provide professional counsel and advice to faculty and administrators. Exercise leadership and guidance to formulate policies and procedures and develop long-range goals and objectives for the Clinical Research division. Chief Medical Officer Responsibilities Oversee the Clinical Research Oversight Committee, Medical Staff Oversight Committee, and other support services. Independent Scientist Responsibilities Lead an independent research program. Develop a robust collaborative internal and external research network. Obtain external funding to conduct independent research projects. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals. Participate in mentoring postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, residents, and early career faculty. Clinical Faculty Responsibilities Maintain expertise and board certification in internal medicine and/or other subspeciality of medicine. Maintain membership on the Pennington Biomedical Medical staff. Clinical Responsibilities Provide medical oversight for participants in Pennington Biomedical's research programs. Provide assessment and medical treatment as part of urgent care to individuals who are ill or injured at Pennington Biomedical. Provide diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment of individuals who seek physician services at Pennington Biomedical. Required Qualifications MD LSBME Medical License Minimum of 10 years of experience in medical administration or clinical research, with appropriate publication record.
