Position Summary: The Vice President of Strategic Operations for the Industrial Division is a senior leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the operational strategy to drive long-term business growth and operational efficiency across all three groups within Alamo Group’s Industrial Division. This position plays a critical role in optimizing business processes, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, and leading cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives. Working collaboratively with business unit leaders, the VP of Strategic Operations will ensure operational alignment, consistency, and high-quality performance across the division. Essential Functions of the Job: Strategic Leadership: Lead the planning, development, and execution of operational strategies to drive productivity, quality, and profitability across all three groups within the Industrial Division. Collaborate with senior leadership and business unit leaders to set operational goals that align with the division’s long-term strategic objectives. Collaborate with executive leadership to identify and prioritize business initiatives that support growth, profitability, and scalability. Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with business unit leaders and other divisional functions to ensure alignment in production, logistics, supply chain, and resource management. Promote effective cross-functional communication to foster a unified approach to operational performance and continuous improvement. Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement best practices to optimize processes, reduce costs, and maximize resource utilization without compromising quality. Develop metrics to monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, efficiency, and quality standards. Resource and Capacity Management: Oversee resource allocation, including people count, equipment, and materials, to meet production schedules and customer demand. Ensure scalability of operations to support business growth, adjust resource plans and infrastructure as needed. Supply Chain and Inventory Management: Drive initiatives to enhance supply chain resilience, improve supplier relationships, and optimize inventory levels. Ensure compliance with procurement and sourcing policies, focusing on cost reduction and continuity of supply. People Development and Leadership: Mentor and develop management teams across the division, fostering high-performance culture and Talent Development planning. Champion initiatives to attract, retain, and engage top talent within the operations teams. Financial Management: Collaborate with business unit leaders to ensure operational strategies are aligned with financial goals and forecasts. Identify areas for cost savings, and make data driven recommendations for improvement. Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of global markets, organizational scale requirements, and the processes needed to lead operations within the context of a rapidly growing company. Very strong financial and business acumen, including both profit/loss and the balance sheet. Knowledge and understanding of financial accounting and cost systems, including standard cost, product line profitability analysis, pricing, operational reporting using KPIs, and marketing and sales planning. Knowledge of business and management processes involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and selection/alignment of people and resources. Adept at developing opportunities through close collaboration with peers and colleagues. Working knowledge of integrated ERP systems and ERP implementations. JDE One World experience preferred. Excellent commercial skills and solid general management experience are required, including experience managing collective bargaining groups and proactive employee relations and union-avoidance strategies where the business is not organized under a CBA. Adept at leadership and management of change with the ability to diagnose and solve problems, articulate a plan, continuously improve processes, and implement solutions. Able to build and foster effective business relationships with other executives, key customers, dealers, suppliers, and other internal and external stakeholders. Able to operate at the strategic planning level while effectively managing the tactical aspects of business operations. Able to motivate, develop, and direct people to perform at their highest potential with the ability to identify and place the best people in the right jobs. Able to work irregular and/or extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed. Able to travel at least 50% of the time and occasionally on short notice. Demonstrated ability to exhibit and model Alamo Group’s Core Leadership Competencies : Leading Change / Change Management Leading People / Teamwork Communication Business Acumen Results Driven Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field required, MBA or other post-graduate degree desired. 15 years of experience in senior operations management roles in manufacturing is required; experience in heavy industrial and/or agricultural equipment industries is strongly preferred. International business experience is required. Demonstrated success managing operations across multiple business units or divisions, with experience aligning diverse teams around unified operational goals.
