Job Summary The HR Generalist/Payroll Clerk assists the Human Resources department with recruiting, onboarding, payroll, organizing personnel files, as well as assisting the receptionist and HSE Coordinator, as needed. Essential Job Duties Processes payroll on a bi-weekly schedule and creates reports for the Accounting team. Assists with reviewing resumes, conducting interviews and making hiring suggestions. Works closely with our staffing agencies. Prepares all onboarding material for new hires. Conducts onboarding in the absence of the Director of Human Resources. Helps maintain supplies for employee files, new hire binders, company marketing supplies, etc. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; regularly reviews policies and practices and assists Director of Human Resources with updates to the employee handbook (yearly or on an as needed basis). Supports management in functions related to hiring, payroll, personnel files, safety meetings, Lunch and Learn activities, and yearly employee functions. Oversee the Job Descriptions. Help to revise, edit and keep all job descriptions current. Ensure all employees have a signed job description in their personnel files. Provide onsite HR support, as needed. Create/Maintain HR SOPs. Other Job Responsibilities May be tasked with researching, finding and/or creating training programs for employees. Required to participate or take charge of recruitment and interviewing process. Creates forms and reports to evaluate business needs as it relates to functions of HR. Attends job training and webinars for regular professional development. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the HRIS chosen by the company. Education and Experience A minimum of three years of human resource/payroll experience required. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR highly desired. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
