Purpose:

As our Warehouse General Manager will have a unique opportunity to take lead a best-in-class 80,000 square foot warehouse and fulfillment service function for Berry Direct, an Edible Brands company. You will support with hands-on, roll up your sleeves operational execution while leading the small and mighty 4-person team day to day. In addition, the opportunity to contribute to building a new independent 3PL business within our existing Warehouse to maximize space and revenue opportunities.

What this looks like day to day:

  • Optimize warehouse layout, product flow, and handling systems to adapt to incoming client needs.
  • Increase operational efficiency by improving labor utilization, material usage, order fulfillment, and cost management.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly addressing requests, questions, and inquiries to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Develop and empower a versatile 4-person warehouse team through skill development and performance management strategies.
  • Assign and oversee warehouse tasks, including unloading, receiving, order processing, picking, packing, shipping, and customer service.
  • Utilize FIFO methods for inventory management and provide reports on aging inventory.
  • Coordinate with department managers to ensure seamless operations in purchasing, quality control, receiving, storage, shipping, and customer service.
  • Manage warehouse equipment, including maintenance and contracts for forklifts and lifting tools.
  • Oversee the warehouse budget and P&L, ensuring financial efficiency.
  • Track and report on key metrics to provide actionable insights for management.
  • Help build and scale a 3PL warehouse business, overseeing all aspects from business development and contract negotiation to the seamless execution of processes, procedures, and client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Proven Leadership Skills: Experience leading and developing teams, fostering collaboration and high performance
  • 3PL Expertise: Hands-on experience in third-party logistics operations preferred, including managing client relationships and ensuring service excellence
  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong commitment to client internal and external satisfaction, effectively addressing inquiries, resolving challenges, and building relationships
  • Operational Efficiency: Skilled in optimizing warehouse layouts, inventory management (e.g., FIFO), and improving labor utilization, order fulfillment, and cost management
  • Strategic and Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, P&L, and executing strategic initiatives while staying hands-on with day-to-day operations
  • Safety and Compliance: Knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulatory compliance, with a track record of maintaining a safe work environment
  • Hardworking and Adaptable: Willingness to work hard and adapt to evolving client needs while building and scaling the 3PL business
  • Experience with 3PL business development, including contract negotiation and client acquisition, is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of OSHA operating requirements
  • Comply with federal/state warehousing requirements
