Salary Range:
$47.0268 - $56.9213 hourly, $97,816 - $118,396 annually.
Job Description:
City College of San Francisco is looking to recruit full-time Institutional Police Officers. Under the direction of the Chief of Police or his/her designee, the Institutional Police Officer works in the San Francisco Community College District Police Department and acts as a peace officer. The officer's primary functions are to provide protection of life and property and to enforce state and local laws and college policies within the jurisdiction of San Francisco Community College District campuses.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
Maintain law and order within and surrounding City College campuses and other district sites.
Provide a safe and secure environment for the students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Respond to all emergencies on District property in a professional and courteous manner.
Uphold the laws and statutes of the State of California and enforce local ordinances related to the San Francisco Community College District.
Provide assistance and/or first aid.
Perform traffic control and investigate traffic collisions.
Issue warnings or citations for violations observed.
Patrol assigned areas in a marked patrol vehicle and/or on foot.
Conduct investigations of various crimes committed; interview suspects, victims, and witnesses; prepare reports on arrests and incidents.
Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors by providing directions and responding to inquiries.
Testify and present evidence in court as necessary.
May perform other duties as assigned by Chief of Police or his/her designee.
How to qualify
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination);
AND Experience:
One (1) year of experience as a police officer or member of a military police unit.
License and Certification:
Requires possession of a valid California Driver License;
AND
Possession of a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate will be required prior to field work assignment.
Desirable Qualifications:
Certificate of completion from a P.O.S.T. academy.
Completion of 60 units of college credits preferably in the Administration of Justice field.
Two years of verifiable work experience.
Effective interpersonal skills enabling the officer to effectively deal with a diverse population.
Good organizational skills.
Willingness to work extended hours or start early when required.
