RESPONSIBILITIES

MANAGER OF STAFF

Promote a healthy and inclusive workplace culture that values team well-being and professional growth

Oversee the hiring and management of all staff

Prepare, perform, and document 6-month and annual staff reviews

Prepare and participate in the annual staff retreat

Oversee all human resource policies and actions in partnership with the Employers Council

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Represent UWYV in public spaces, policy discussions, and local initiatives to advance UWYV’s impact goals

Forge and sustain collaborative partnerships with community organizations, governmental bodies, donors, and stakeholders to achieve impact

Communicate with partners and the board of directors to ensure that organizational resources and funding are deployed where needed most

Explore innovative projects to elevate UWYV’s role as a leader in the nonprofit community

Support affinity groups (Women United, Youth United Way) and ensure their strategic goals and programs align with and amplify UWYV’s impact goals

Utilize data to evaluate program effectiveness and improvement

FUNDRAISING

Cultivate relationships with major donors to increase their giving

Plan and execute fundraising campaigns to reach or exceed annual goals

Identify and enact revenue diversification opportunities through grant procurement, enhanced donor retention strategies, and other measures

UWYV GRANT PROCESS

Manage the award, distribution, and evaluation process of grants with support from the Business Operations Manager

Facilitate the Community Investment Committee (CIC) in the grant review process

BOARD of DIRECTORS

Work with the board of directors to develop and execute strategic goals

Maintain accurate and timely communications with the Board of Directors

Assist in the preparation of agendas for board and committee meetings

Write monthly ED reports and prepare monthly board packet materials

Train new board members, including updating of board notebooks and recruiting packets

Assist with planning the annual board retreat

FINANCIAL

Submit monthly financials to the board of directors

Oversee organizational finances by preparing and adhering to an annual budget

Engage in an annual review of the long-range financial plan for the organization

Manage cash flow throughout the year

Review all investment accounts with the finance committee

Work in collaboration with the Business Operations Manager and auditor or CPA to facilitate the annual audit and tax filing

STATE and FEDERAL LIAISON

Manage all communication from United Way Worldwide, including maintaining United Way Worldwide online access for staff and board of directors

Participate in monthly Colorado Network calls and annual meetings

Participate in meetings or task forces when there is a clear benefit to UWYV

Produce annual Database II report and membership certification form

Oversee ALICE financials and research reporting

443 OAK NONPROFIT CENTER

Oversee financials, property management, and contract negotiation with Business Operations Manager and Executive Director of Integrated Community

Prepare and conduct 443 Oak Nonprofit board meetings and financial reviews

Recruit and train 443 Oak Nonprofit Center board members

Work with bookkeeper to manage monthly financials

QUALIFICATIONS

4-year degree or equivalent experience

Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in the nonprofit sector

Successful record in developing and leading programs and partnerships to achieve social impact

Demonstrated ability in community outreach and coalition-building

Proven experience as a successful fundraiser

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Proficiency in MS Windows, MS Office, AI Tools, Online database systems

3 years of experience in managing budgets and finances

Commitment to United Way's mission, vision, and values

SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION

The Executive Director is directly supervised by the Board Chair, and she/he is responsible to the Board of Directors for the fulfillment of job responsibilities and adherence to policies and procedures. The Board Chair shall also evaluate the Executive Director with input from the Executive Committee on an annual basis. This is a full time, exempt position.

Executive Director Salary : $85,000-$100,000 with Benefits

Base:

Steamboat Springs Office

Vacation:

80 hours per year

Sick Time:

Maximum of 40 hours per year
