We are looking for an enthusiastic Accounting Controller to join our team. As the Accounting Controller for our Wingstop Franchise, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, managing accounting functions, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for driving financial excellence. This role offers health insurance, paid time off, and the chance to work on a Monday to Friday schedule with weekend availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to establish financial targets and performance metrics. Provide regular forecasts and variance analyses to support decision-making.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee all aspects of the accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and payroll processing. Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Conduct periodic audits and reviews to assess control effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory filings. Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations impacting the business.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to evaluate business performance, identify trends, and assess opportunities for improvement. Present findings and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Cash Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity by forecasting cash needs, monitoring bank balances, and optimizing working capital. Implement cash management strategies to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.
  • Audit and Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and reviews of financial statements. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and address any findings or recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional development and ensure high performance. Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management, providing financial expertise and strategic guidance as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in the restaurant or retail industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
