Where you will work: The Lewiston mill is the largest of Clearwater Paper’s facilities, producing both paperboard and tissue product, and boasting over 1200 talented employees. Approximately two hours away from Clearwater Paper’s headquarters in Spokane, Washington, the Lewiston paper mill is a key component in Clearwater Paper’s business strategy. What you will do: Workstream lead Champion the Transformation at the mill and be accountable for delivery and replenishment of pipeline for the site Support Initiative and Milestone Owners with Implementation Lead Ideation and Planning for Continuous Ideation with Core Transformation Team (CTT) and mill area/ department teams Serve as mill lead for Wave, training, on-boarding, communications, recognition Collaborate with CTT Finance, Mill Finance, and Mill Manager on assumptions for target-setting Lead site report-outs, attend Workstream Lead Meetings, CTT x PPD Meetings, PPD MOR Meetings and meet with CTT in person periodically for check-and-adjusts Collaborate on initiatives with Commercial, Supply Chain, and Procurement teams as needed Support OpEx, Capital, and Clearwater Strategic initiatives as needed Lead in larger mill wide strategic initiatives. Facilitate KT sessions and coach other facilitators with their projects Assist in development of reports relative to plant operations, i.e. daily/monthly production, costs per unit/ton data. Track & evaluate data, make recommendations and communicate with managers for continuous improvement. Analyze long term issues to help find root cause and resolution Execute Green Belt/DMAIC style projects Liaison for maintaining GB style project prioritization matrix for site; Maintain a queue of opportunities for variability reduction projects Assist in driving the development of the salary team as well as production associates in root cause analysis skill sets in – KT, GSTD, Cause Mapping, and Five Why’s Work with OpEx and data analysis teams on improvement strategies and projects to build and maintain Power BI reports and other mill-wide manufacturing information system Communicate effectively and positively with other departments and with shift personnel in professional manner Champion safety in all actions and activities completed at the mill site Leadership and Development Mentor the early career engineers in all engineering departments Track ECD progress and ensure all core competencies for the program are being achieved Check and adjust the ECD program curriculum on a semi-annual basis Understanding and applying critical financial business metrics Identify, define and set a strategic direction inclusive of identifying gaps and adjusting priorities Leverage data to quantitatively and analytically make business decisions and take smart risks Ability and confidence in thinking strategically and act tactically Lead in a matrixed and highly collaborative environment to influence change and core processes An ability to think about “practical strategies” for realistically challenging goals and implementation plans High degree of business curiosity; quick learner with a proactive and agile mindset Inspires trust through influencing, charisma, passion, and orientation toward driving for results Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal); leading and presenting materials for various audiences Demonstrated strong change management skills with an ability to challenge status quo while aligning and bringing others along Leads with data, transparency and courage with a strong track record of results What you will need: Five (5) or more years related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. MS Office programs, JDEdwards knowledge required. PI, PARCview, Power BI, and McKinsey WAVE knowledge a plus. Pulp and Paper knowledge preferred. Previous RCA, KT, lean, six sigma training or certifications a benefit. Proven P&L ownership Strong analytical skills (problem solving). Working towards or have achieved Green Belt status. Strong written and oral communication skills. Good organizational skills. Program enhancement and development skills to drive sustained results needed. Basic understanding of financial principles. Skills in developing and mentoring others a must. Subject to extreme hot temperature Must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to noise, dust. Subject to moving equipment and machinery. M-F days standard hours, but hours outside the workweek can be required.
