Job Summary The Compliance Division Manager manages and coordinates all complaint related activities, ensuring complaints are delegated and processed in accordance with the Board of Cosmetologist Examiners' statutes, rules and policies. This position provides leadership and supervision to a team of four Investigators, guiding staff to perform their duties with the highest level of efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance, while providing clear direction and guidance - particularly important where regulations and tasks may be ambiguous.
This position handles escalated complaint investigations, often dealing with uncharted scenarios where regulations may be unclear, incomplete, or conflicting with those of other agencies. This position will also communicate and present solutions related to global issues involving compliance and serve on behalf of the Executive Director at meetings relating to compliance issues.
This position exists to inform the public and professionals of provisions in Minnesota Statutes 155A and Minnesota Rules 2105 and 2110 and serves as the authoritative point of contact with Board staff, applicants, licensees, and the public on issues relating to the practice of cosmetology. The position works closely with the Board’s Executive Director and Board Members in analyzing and interpreting statutes and rules.
This position requires some travel to conferences, training or work-related activities.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Resume must demonstrate the following qualifications:
Three years of experience in compliance which includes one or more of the following: investigation, regulatory compliance, credentialing, complaint/document review, quality assurance, or a related field.
Note: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, law, public health or policy, social science, business administration, or related degree may substitute for one year of experience.
AND
Supervisory or lead work experience that includes directing and assigning work, managing and measuring performance, and coaching, mentoring, or training staff.
Experience managing complex cases independently.
Experience applying statutory requirements to ensure compliance with a regulatory body (state, federal, and associations).
Leadership skills sufficient to lead a team to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, or goal accomplishment.
Strong communication skills sufficient to organizing diverse facts and materials into logical, cohesive summaries and reports and present information, and the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in criminal justice or related field.
Experience overseeing staff with a caseload of 100+ investigations in various stages of the process (or related work).
Technical and functional knowledge of the licensed professions.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to coach, engage, train staff and identify areas of improvement.
Experience promoting an inclusive work environment and culture through respect, while ensuring a collaborative workplace that values diversity.
