Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room

Position Overview: Are you a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse with experience in the operating room? We are seeking a Surgical Services RN to join our dynamic team under the leadership of the Director of Surgery. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide top-notch nursing care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. As a Surgical Services RN, you will be instrumental in planning, coordinating, and managing patient care, ensuring that the highest standards of practice and patient safety are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care Management: Plan, delegate, and coordinate nursing care for assigned patients, ensuring adherence to established care standards and practices.
• Surgical Preparation: Prepare for surgical procedures, perform the circulating role, and assist the surgeon as needed in the scrub role.
• Team Supervision: Oversee and assign tasks to LPNs, ORTs/CSTs, Nursing Assistants, and secretaries; review work for accuracy and completeness.
• Medication Administration: Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, and supervise the administration of medications within the sterile field.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records, including charge mechanisms and patient information transfers.
• Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety and infection control policies, maintain emergency supplies, and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Operational Readiness: Ensure that the surgical department is consistently prepared for patient care, restock rooms as necessary, and notify appropriate personnel when supplies are low.

Qualifications:

• License: Valid SC Nursing License required.
• Experience: Prior experience in the operating room (OR) is essential.
• Skills: Proficiency in patient care across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
