Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:

  • Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
  • Clinical Health Services: Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.
  • Supportive Health Services: Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter and Housing Assistance Programs.

Psychiatric Services- RN

Non-exempt/Full-time


Monday-Friday, or 4- 10 hours days, Weekends and Evenings off!


Major Duties:

  1. Able to work with RN nursing licensure.
  2. Assist Psychiatric Services Provider in the coordination of.
  3. Assists in the Medication Assisted Treatment program as ordered by provider.
  4. Provides adherence counseling and screening for Psychiatric Services patients.
  5. Provides care management for Psychiatric Services patients.
  6. Administers medications according to the provider’s written, verbal, or electronic orders.
  7. Maintains a current, accurate inventory of all Psychiatric Services medications.
  8. Assists patients with completing appropriate applications for eligibility of patient assistance medication programs.
  9. Coordinates and monitors the need for reordering medications from patient assistance medication programs.
  10. Monitors inventory and orders supplies for Psychiatric Services as needed.
  11. Provides and documents education to patients and caregivers about psychotropic medications and other related medications.
  12. Acts as a liaison between internal staff and external health care services (i.e., Referrals, Intensive Outpatient Therapy etc.) in the coordination and care of patients.
  13. Completes all documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  14. Effectively communicates while interacting with patients, patient families and staff.
  15. Participate in the ongoing Quality Assurance and Improvement initiatives.
  16. Prepare and submit program reports as requested.
  17. Maintain confidentiality of records and communications following CAPWN policy and HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.
  18. Maintain current BLS (Basic Life Support) / CPR (Cardiopulmonary Recusation)
  19. Maintains continuing education requirements.
  20. Assists with Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP), and Psychiatric Services programs as requested.

  22. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Well-lit, temperature-controlled clinical setting, with standard medical and office equipment available.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, and evenings and out-of-town training.
  • Work is frequently stressful and requires meeting tight deadlines.
  • Work is in a highly dynamic clinic where patients can be difficult and there are frequent interruptions and changes throughout the day.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, stand and walk.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office and medical equipment.

  • Must regularly talk, hear, and have close vision ability to record and communicate appropriate documents and records.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

  • Physically able to reposition patients and lift arms above shoulder level.

Minimum Qualifications:

Grade: 21

  1. RN license for the state of Nebraska.
  2. RN nursing experience or one year of psychiatric service nursing experience- Preferred
  3. Current CPR certification.
  4. Valid Nebraska driver’s license with good driving record and insured vehicle.

Grade: 22

  1. Must meet the minimum qualifications above.
  2. Three years RN nursing experience or two years psychiatric services nursing experience- preferred.

Grade: 23

  1. Must meet the minimum qualifications above.
  2. Five years RN nursing experience or Three years psychiatric nursing experience-Preferred
