Employment Services Technician 1/2 located in Anchorage!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/15.

What You Will Be Doing:
As an Employment Services Technician (EST) 1/2, your coverage area will include Anchorage, but may expand to Alaska statewide for businesses with corporate offices in Anchorage and statewide operations. You will work with businesses to not only provide current job center services, but to creatively devise hiring and recruitment strategies that are innovative, effective, and customized to the individual business. You will also be heavily involved in the administration of one of our grant programs which includes vetting and processing employer applications to the program and the data entry that follows their acceptance.

This uniquely rewarding position is located in the heart of Anchorage in the Midtown Job Center. This Job Center has plenty of free parking and is surrounded by restaurants and grocery stores, which makes getting out of the office for lunch or a short break very convenient and time efficient. The daily work environment is full of variety with ever-changing priorities and assignments. This customer service-driven position involves extensive contact to explain and elicit information regarding procedures, services, and/or requirements for solutions and services provided through the Job Center Network.

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Services Technician Level 1:

One year of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

Employment Services Technician Level 2:
One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Two years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This is a flexibly staffed position with the opportunity to advance to Level 2 upon management's assessment that the incumbent is performing adequately and has successfully completed training as an Employment Services Technician 1.

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
