Job Summary:

The Controller is a key member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting:
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Manage the chart of accounts and general ledger.
Review journal entries and account reconciliations.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and board review.
Coordinate with external auditors to support the audit process.
Manage the preparation of tax returns and filings.
Internal Controls:
Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure operational efficiency.
Conduct regular reviews of internal controls and recommend improvements.
Financial Analysis:
Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and other departments, to gather and analyze financial information.

Prepare financial forecasts and budgets.
Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
Team Management:
Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
Recruit, hire, and train accounting staff.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience with inventory accounting.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software and systems (Sage Intacct)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Multi location accounting
  • Private equity experience desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
