Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise Quality team, including giving work directions, scheduling, and creating/reviewing reports and data
  • Communicate on a regular basis with other internal departments to ensure quality of product
  • Accomplish quality assurance objectives by training, assigning, scheduling, coaching and counseling team members; communicating job expectations, and planning, monitoring, and evaluating job performance
  • Assist in achieving company objectives by communicating daily quality issues to ensure that any issues are corrected as quickly as possible
  • Maintain quality assurance program by initiating and reviewing policies and procedures
  • Support operations in ensuring that training, testing, and new product development is done in compliance with applicable USDA, customer, and company standards.
  • Ensure federal and state compliance with all USDA and company Food Safety/QA policies and procedures.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained on all manufacturing responsibilities and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and directors to make high level decisions when issues arise.
  • Serve as the primary decision maker for the shift in the absence of a Director/Manager
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; AS/BS in food science, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role in a manufacturing setting, preferably in QA/QS
  • Specific knowledge and direct experience in ensuring adherence with FDA and USDA regulations, plant production processes/systems, SQF, GMP, and HACCP
  • Ability to effectively articulate and present the company's quality strategy
  • Strong computer skills, specifically MS office.
  • Strong work ethic and positive mentality, with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with other team members
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position will also frequent the production floor, so operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions will be required. Work is completed in a facility where nuts, fruits and other allergens are present.
