Primary Purpose The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and supervise case management with in home services and home delivered meals for vulnerable elderly and disabled adults. This supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of seven (7) professional social workers. In addition to supervising the day-to-day operations of this unit, the supervisor assures compliance with various funding sources, eligibility, programmatic requirements, and contract monitoring. The individual in this position should be able to identify unit training needs and monitor quality standards as it relates to federal, state, and local policies. The ability to relate and communicate in a caring and professional manner with both the staff and the families we serve is essential for this position. This position is located within the Aging and Adult Services division. The division ensures assistance is provided to safeguard the health, safety, and well-being of disabled, elderly, and vulnerable adults in Durham County. This position assures compliance with programmatic and funding requirements, as well as legal and ethical compliance with protective services laws.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Organizational Skills - time management, prioritizing projects and problems Planning - developing plans to accomplish work operations and objectives Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems. Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment. Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
