Senior Accountant, Claims & ESG

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the maintenance of the crew and guest claims processes with an emphasis on the finance aspect. Actively ensure all crew and guest claims data are properly captured and reported for financial reporting purposes, including monthly tie-outs and analyses. Gather and compile accounting data for the ESG team to review and incorporate into the ESG reports and disclosures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the entire crew and guest claims processes from a finance standpoint working closely with the applicable departments (i.e., Medical (crew), Legal (crew and guest litigation), Accounting and IT). Manage and further develop the crew and guest claims processes and documentation ensuring up-to-date and proper controls (focus on a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) perspective) are in place and functioning. Administration of claims system including user access setup, reporting, and coordination of requests for changes and enhancements with the vendor and IT, their testing and implementation and compliance with internal company policies and security. Oversee and ensure the claims system is utilized to its fullest extent. Perform the monthly crew and guest claims reconciliation process, including validation of all approved third-party administrator medical invoices tie to the upload file, bank reconciliation for impressed account and general ledger. Review the monthly crew and guest claims data and reserve accruals to ensure reasonable and variances are investigated and resolved timely. Work with Accounting on the tasks performed with the external actuary, including determination of the company's requirement for the Incurred But Not Reported ("IBNR") reserves maintained for the company's crew and guest claims liability. Review and assist with the budget and forecast process for crew and guest claims expense and ESG related costs. Prepare a management reporting package on established metrics such as frequency of claims reporting, estimated claims expense and average severity, average number of days to close claims, etc. adapting to changes as needed. Perform research and analytical studies, including the preparation of reports that include cost analyses, comparative financial data and other informational/statistical data to support findings. Gather and review accounting data to assist in translating that data into ESG digestible formats and categories for the ESG team to review. Assist in updating ESG disclosures and reviewing companywide disclosures for consistency. Assist in reviewing control processes and establishing new controls and reports from various departments used in ESG reporting. Perform other job-related functions as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 4 years of corporate Accounting experience or two years of Public Accounting experience. Experience in claims and IBNR preferred. COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
Solid understanding of GAAP and SOX. Must have strong excel skills to compile and analyze data. Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills, be self-motivated, detail oriented and be able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels. The ability to develop strong relationships with persons from other departments and management levels is a must. Must be able to clearly articulate concepts throughout all levels of the organization. Must have strong work ethic, ability to work independently, self-starter who can meet deadlines, inquisitive and analytically minded. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
