This recruitment is open to Alaska Residents only.
This on-site position is in located in our Juneau Headquarters Office, in the State Office -Building, in beautiful downtown Juneau, Alaska. This position is not eligible for telework and is for Alaska Residents only.
The Division of Investments with the Department of Commerce Community and Economic Development is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 1 (PCN 08-9026).
What you will be doing: As a direct positive impact on the people and economy of Alaska you will participate in the journaling and distribution of all daily cash receipts, suspense items, disbursements, and adjusting entries to the general ledger accounts for the Division of Investments revolving loan funds.
Your accurate and timely accounting will provide real-time insight into the division's positive impact on Alaska's economy.

These programs were primarily designed to promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector.

The 9th floor, has a fully equipped and spacious break room, that you will have full access to, as well as easy access to various restaurants and coffee shops downtown.

Who we are looking for: To be successful in the position a candidate will need the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Foundational knowledge of accounting procedures and practices; Experience identifying discrepancies or inaccuracies in data, and making necessary corrections; Ability to interpret, apply, and explain laws, rules, and regulations as related to accounting; Knowledge of loan accounting, interest calculation and amortization; and Experience with the state accounting system IRIS, or other automated accounting systems. Minimum Qualifications
One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions: Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month). Additional Required Information
