Description and Duties of the Position: A Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and completion of fiber optic infrastructure projects. Key job duties typically include:
1. Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timeline, budget, and resource allocation. 2. Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with stakeholders such as utility companies, local governments, contractors, and customers to ensure alignment and address concerns. 3. Team Leadership: Manage and lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and field crews, to ensure project goals are met. 4. Budget Management: Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-control measures to keep projects within financial limits. 5. Scheduling: Create and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of milestones and deliverables. 6. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes to ensure that installations meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. 7. Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively. 8. Progress Reporting: Prepare regular status reports and updates for stakeholders, highlighting project progress, challenges, and solutions. 9. Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all aspects of the project comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards. 10. Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise during the project lifecycle, finding effective solutions to keep the project on track. 11. Community Engagement: Communicate with the community regarding project developments and benefits, addressing any concerns from residents. 12. Final Assessment: Conduct post-project evaluations to assess success and identify areas for improvement in future projects.
These duties require strong organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and a solid understanding of telecommunications infrastructure.
