Hybrid with onsite and remote weekly schedule Who We Are Through the provision of coordinated, compassionate, and high‐quality services, the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH) strives to make homelessness in San Francisco rare, brief, and one-time. The Department provides assistance and support to homeless and at‐risk youth, adults, and families to prevent imminent episodes of homelessness and end homelessness for people in San Francisco. Under general direction of the Director of Outreach and Temporary Shelter, the Manager of Temporary Shelters will oversee the operations of all emergency shelters and temporary placement programs. The manager also plays an integral role in emergency pop-up shelters needed during severe weather and air quality activations. The Manager will work with City agencies and programs to facilitate the shelter placement system and housing-focused case management services, track shelter program compliance and progress, and oversee the redesign and expansion of the adult and family shelter systems. Essential duties include but are not limited to: Works within the HSH Outreach and Temporary Shelter Division and collaborates closely with other city departments. Manages complex analyses of homeless client needs and program availability. Manages the Temporary Shelter team’s projects and adjusts individual team responsibilities. Collaborates with IT to ensure data collection systems are configured to support new programs. Develops new data reports to help program managers monitor performance. Guides and manages developing a system and program performance measurement framework. Other duties as assigned. How to qualify

Education:

Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university;

AND Experience:

Three (3) years of professional experience in public or non-profit management, involving complex analysis of housing, health, social programs, and/or public policy. Education Substitution:

Additional qualifying full-time work experience may substitute up to two (2) years of the required education. Experience Substitution:

Possession of a master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. Desirable Qualifications: The listed desirable qualifications may be considered at the end of the selection process when applicants are referred for hiring. Understanding of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Experience working with a diverse workforce. Understanding of the San Francisco shelter delivery system. 2+ years of supervisory experience in public or non-profit management. 2+ years of experience managing project budgets. Experience with harm reduction and trauma-informed methodologies. Knowledge of research methods, including program evaluation. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
