Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a lead cloud automation engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be working 100% remote and will focus on cloud automation. A candidate in this position will work as part of an enterprise cloud services team and will lead the automation team and will assist in the automation of cloud infrastructure, ensuring efficient, reliable, and scalable operations. The candidate will lead a team of automation engineers and implementing automation tools and processes. The candidate responsibilities will include managing of the team task priorities, providing technical guidance, strategy, and solutions for automation. The candidate responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Leadership Role Lead the cloud automation team to develop and implement automation strategy for multi-account cloud environment (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)

Understand the scope of tasks and manage the prioritization and implementation of the tasking for cloud automation Coordinate with peer cloud leads on automation requirements for the cloud environments Advise and enhance cloud team process improvements using cloud best practices and team standards Effective communication with leadership for status, issues, risks, and concerns, etc. Technical Role Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud automation strategy to support the cloud team's requirements and initiatives. Provide technical guidance and direction to cloud automation team Identify opportunities for automation and drive the adoption of automation tools and best practices. Lead and implement the design, development, and deployment of automated workflows and processes Manage cloud infrastructure and ensure availability, scalability, and security through automation. Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud services and resources. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation. Develop governance documentation and standard operation procedures for automated processes and tools. Effectively communicate automation strategies, progress, and results to leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience Five (5) years of experience preferred in cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or other public cloud services with an emphasis on AWS experience Three (3) years of experience preferred writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CDK, and CloudFormation. Two (2) years of experience preferred with Python or similar cloud scripting language. One (1) cloud certification preferred at the associate level or higher in AWS Experience leading implementing and leading cloud automation projects Experience with Jira and similar toolsets for workflow management Candidate must hold or be able to obtain Public Trust Candidate must be a US Citizen Preferred Qualifications: DevOps Engineering experience

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
