Human Resources Generalist
We are a fast-paced, growing construction company that delivers safety, quality, and on-time work, that specializes in heavy civil construction that includes earthwork, concrete work, steel erection and more.
The Human Resources Generalist assists the HR Manager in the daily operations of the human resources functions, duties and responsibilities while helping to maintain a positive workplace atmosphere. The HR Generalist will focus on establishing partnerships with all departments and senior management to support delivery and execution of HR processes to include but not limited to employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, employee engagement, company-wide initiatives and more.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts recruitment processes by discussing staffing needs with managers, performing job analysis, preparing job announcements and descriptions, potentially interviewing prospective job applicants, developing, and implementing applicant screening and selection devices, analyzing and evaluating applications and resumes, overseeing interview panels, and conducting reference checks.
Interprets employment laws, policies, and procedures by researching laws and changes, and providing advice to managers and employees, and coordinates and directs Workers' Compensation claims processes and requests for family and medical leave.
Research applicant and employee complaints, conducts internal investigations, facilitates employee grievance processes, and prepares reports.
Monitors employee pay issues and records for consistency and appropriateness.
Conducts new employee orientation (benefits and culture presentation).
Perform administrative duties using standards and prescribed procedures with limited supervision.
Interact with internal and/or external customers to answer basic questions and resolve problems within prescribed guidelines.
Maintain the HRIS system and compile reports from the system as needed.
Maintain and create employment files (active and terminated employees).
Process new hire paperwork and terminations.
Process Employee Change requests for all employees as needed.
Manage administration of promotions, terminations, market adjustments, job evaluations, merit review, etc.
Anticipate business needs and recommend solutions.
Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems, evaluating potential solutions and implementing selected solutions.
Advise and counsel managers and employees with various employee relations issues.
Develop human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.
Additional Responsibilities Conduct exit interviews and separations as needed. Assist with open enrollment administration as needed. Assist with the performance planning process.

Knowledge of a wide variety of HR concepts, practices and procedures. Knowledge of employment law including ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and COBRA. Strong skills in interpersonal communication, writing and organization. Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity. Ability to work with limited supervision and high motivation. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and HRIS systems) Must possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs. Must pass a Federal Vetting process and a pre-employment drug test
Preferred Skills and Abilities PHR or SHRM -CP certification. Excellent presentation skills.
