Job Description
We are seeking a skilled SMT Operator who will be responsible for operating SMD/THT machines and performing rework tasks. The successful candidate will be integral in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our production processes.
Responsibilities
Load feeders, read part numbers, and operate the jet-printing machine as well as the reflow ovens.
Troubleshoot basic problems on each of the machines.
Examine reflow assembly, analyze solder quality issues, and adjust thermal profiles accordingly.
Perform setup, parts verification, and operate SMT equipment, with a basic understanding of IPC-610 standards.
Setup, maintain, and operate automated SMT assembly equipment, including jet printing, pick and place, reflow oven, and automated optical inspection (AOI).
Monitor and replenish electronic components onto feeders across multiple pick and place machines.
Collaborate with the Process Engineer to provide real-time data to improve processes and determine root causes of issues.
Perform in-process visual inspections and initiate first article processes for all electronic assemblies.
Responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of assigned production equipment using both automated and manual placement methods while meeting quality, efficiency, and productivity goals.
Essential Skills
High School diploma or GED required; Electronics technical school graduate preferred.
3+ years of hands-on experience with SMT assembly techniques, equipment, and processes preferred.
Basic understanding of computer science fundamentals.
Knowledge of electronics components, including polarity, part marking information, package size, and footprints on PCBs.
Ability to interpret and apply IPC-A-610 acceptability standards.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from verbal instructions and work instructions.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical assembly skills.
Experience with hand and power tools.
Mechanical aptitude.
Ability to follow work instructions.
