SMT Machine Operator

The SMT Machine Operator is responsible for the set-up, maintenance and operation of assigned production equipment. This will be accomplished using both automated equipment and manual placement methods while meeting quality, efficiency and productivity goals. This role will act as an integral team member with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and on all new product introductions and production runs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Able to load the feeders, read part numbers and load the machine. Able to operate the jet-printing machine as well as the reflow ovens. Troubleshoot basic problems on each of the machines. Examine the reflow assembly, analyze problems regarding solder quality and change the thermal profile accordingly. Perform setup, parts verification, basic understanding of the IPC-610 as well as operation and replenishment of SMT equipment. Setup, maintenance, and operation of automated Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly equipment which includes but is not limited to the following processes: jet printing, pick and place, reflow oven, and automated optical inspection (AOI). Operate, monitor, and replenish electronic components onto feeders across multiple pick and place machines. Work collaboratively with the Process Engineer to provide real time data to improve processes and determine the root cause of any issues. Perform in-process visual inspections and initiate first article processes for all electronic assemblies at the SMT. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Electronics technical school graduate is preferred. 3+ years of hands-on experience with SMT assembly techniques, equipment and processes is preferred. Basic understanding of computer science fundamentals. Knowledge of electronics components commonly used in the industry. This will include full understanding of polarity, part marking information, package size and footprints on PCB's. Ability to interpret and apply IPC-A-610 acceptability standards to meet and exceed customer requirements and specifications. Ability to read, interpret and work from verbal instructions as well as work instructions. Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Must be flexible to work 1st or 2nd shift.
