Locum Physician (MD/DO) - Psychiatry in Pennsylvania

Job Title: Physician Job Specialty: Psychiatry - Inpatient Job Duration: Initial assignment of 3 months Shift: Day Shift, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with additional call shifts as detailed below Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum years not specified License: Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Completion of Psychiatry residency; fellowship in geriatric psychiatry preferred Job Description: - Provider needed for inpatient and call coverage - Shifts: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM; additional call shifts as detailed below - Call Schedule: 1-2 days per week, 3 days on occasion; weekend call may be necessary - On-call weekdays by phone from 5:00 PM until 8:00 AM the following morning - On-call weekends: round on psychiatric units and see new consultations in the ED and medical/surgical departments on Saturday and Sunday - Average Patient Encounters while on call: Varies; about 2-4 admissions plus calls for behavioral issues, PRN medications, non-routine incidents on the unit - Response time during on-call periods: 30 minutes - Midlevels assist with new evaluations and summaries - Electronic Medical Records: Epic - Department/Units Rounding: Adult, DEM, consults - Patient Encounters Per Shift: 10-12 - Required Skills: Familiarity with management of anxiety disorders, affective disorder, ADD/ADHD, personality disorders, eating disorders, development disorders, psychotic disorders, organic disorders - Familiarity with involuntary commitments, seclusion therapy, and restraint application preferred - Treatment Techniques: Pharmacotherapy, group therapy, family therapy, and ECT preferred Please note this is a locum tenens opportunity. Credentialing timeframe is approximately 14 days. Experience with acute psychiatric units/institutes, long-term psychiatric facilities, and sub-acute/residential units is desirable.
