Lifting Supervisor – Fabrication Yard Job Summary
The Lifting Supervisor – Fabrication Yard is responsible for overseeing all lifting and rigging operations within the fabrication yard, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the project's lift plans, company policies, and industry standards. The Lifting Supervisor coordinates daily lifting tasks, supervises the lifting crew, and ensures that all equipment is properly maintained and certified. The role requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and attention to detail in executing complex lifting operations in a busy yard environment. Lifting Supervisor – Fabrication Yard Responsibilities Supervise all lifting and rigging activities in the fabrication yard, ensuring that they are conducted safely and in accordance with approved lift plans and project specifications. Assign and schedule lifting tasks to the rigging and crane operation teams, ensuring all operations align with yard production schedules and project deadlines. Implement lift plans for both routine and complex lifts, ensuring all safety and operational requirements are met. Conduct pre-lift meetings to review critical lifts with the team. Inspect cranes, slings, shackles, and other rigging equipment regularly to ensure they are in good working condition and compliant with safety standards. Ensure all equipment has valid certifications and is properly maintained. Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies. Conduct risk assessments, safety briefings, and toolbox talks focused on lifting operations. Address any safety concerns immediately and take corrective action when necessary. Maintain detailed records of lifting operations, including equipment inspections, maintenance logs, and any incidents or near-misses. Report any operational or safety concerns to the Lifting Superintendent or Yard Manager. Lifting Supervisor – Fabrication Yard Position Requirements Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in lifting and rigging operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role within a fabrication yard or industrial environment. Strong background in heavy-lifting operations, particularly with cranes and large-scale rigging equipment. Lifting Supervisor Certification (e.g., LOLER, API RP 2D) or equivalent. Crane operator and rigging certifications are required. Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) are an advantage.
