A law firm seeks a motivated and talented Associate Attorney to join its established litigation team in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in commercial litigation and a strong passion for trial work. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex cases across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus on California. Candidates should possess exceptional writing skills, analytic ability, and a drive for professional growth within a collaborative and client-centered environment. Duties: Handle all aspects of commercial litigation, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial work, with a focus on California courts. Conduct legal research, draft memoranda, and analyze case law to support litigation strategies. Prepare and draft complex litigation documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and case evaluations. Manage discovery processes including propounding and responding to written discovery, document review, and conducting depositions. Collaborate with clients, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel to develop case strategies. Represent clients in state and federal courts, as well as before government agencies, in various litigation matters. Prepare and argue motions, including motions for summary judgment and adjudication. Conduct and defend depositions, including those of lay and expert witnesses. Regularly report on case progress to partners and clients, ensuring clear communication and efficient case management. Requirements: 1-3 years of litigation experience, ideally within a law firm environment. Proven writing and case management skills, with the ability to draft complex legal documents and briefs. Strong oral advocacy skills and experience handling direct client interactions. Familiarity with e-discovery, data management applications, and related technologies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active membership in the California State Bar and good standing. Certifications: None is required beyond the California State Bar. Skills: Exceptional writing and research skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, concise documents. Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple cases and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal communication skills for working with colleagues, clients, and external parties. Knowledge of litigation tools and technologies, including e-discovery and case management software. Client-focused with an emphasis on delivering high-quality service and results.
